Eleni Papadopoulou

Name: Eleni Papadopoulou

"I was already as an UvA Master student at the time I decided to enrol for the Game Studies master's programme.  I was enrolled in another programme and I felt that Game Studies would enrich and expand my knowledge towards new and exciting fields related to gaming."

"The title of my master thesis is 'Stimulating Entrepreneurship via Applied Games: Considering the needs of distinct user groups'.  For my thesis research, I investigated the main focus of a serious game to be developed that aims at stimulating entrepreneurship for young people. The main focus groups that I looked into were based on gender differences as well as differences in intentions regarding entrepreneurship. According to an extensive literature review and the results of a preliminary survey the conclusions of my research pointed towards directions that were overlooked in previous research."

"I've really enjoyed the entire programme because, apart from the fact that I felt that I was learning a lot, it was also a lot of fun! I mostly enjoyed the Project of Game Development as it was the most hands-on course offered and also the course Games in Society as it was a nice demonstration of how powerful games can be as a medium."

"The atmosphere during and after the classes was warm and cosy due to the fact that we were a small group of people and also the attention and care we got from the lecturers and professors."

"I am working at a betting company in Malta at the moment, in a graduate development position which I find really challenging and it gives me a lot of insights about the i-gaming industry. I found the job easily, almost a month before my graduation."

"Game studies opened a new career path for me in the sense that I can pursue jobs that are fun and that are making work feel like a game. I dont know if I will be able to make that happen because it's still a tough industry like all the rest but I will try."
