Dr Jelle Zuidema
Research in keywords:
Computational linguistics, computational cognitive science, statistical parsing, neural networks, language evolution.
Courses in the AI master:
Unsupervised language learning. Electives: Foundations of neural and cognitive modelling; Cognition, language & communication
Research ambitions:
Natural language is both amazingly powerful (arguably the crucial difference between humans and other animals), and surprisingly complex and difficult to model on a computer (arguably one of the grand challenges of artificial intelligence). I am interested in all aspects of language processing, with an eye on NLP applications (statistical parsing, vector-based compositional semantics) as well as cognitive modelling (artificial language learning, neural models of parsing, language evolution).
